We worked on Gimme Radio's fan-facing product and production backend, drawing on subscription-media experience from Napster and Rhapsody. Gimme's streaming radio service later closed.
Gimme Radio was a music streaming and fan community product in the same digital music lineage as Napster and Rhapsody. Its audience came for live programming and discovery shaped by musical taste, alongside a subscription relationship.
In a December 2023 update, Gimme said it could no longer continue streaming radio. Its online stores continued with Mainfactor, as described in Gimme's Community Lives On.
We worked on production product and backend development for the fan-facing side of the platform. We helped support the workflows listeners used, drawing on our experience with subscription media and the Napster and Rhapsody ecosystem. That experience helped us recognize familiar failure modes in account and music-product flows.
Playback and account flows needed to remain reliable while the product continued to change. For a product like this, small, frequent changes need particular care around those critical paths.
Ruby on Rails powered the production backend for the music streaming and subscription-style product.
